'The Map Across Time' Review/Giveaway!

The Map Across Time is the second book in The Heaven's Gate Series, by author C. S. Lakin.  It is a mythological, fairy tale about a brother and sister and their mission to save their kingdom from an evil spell that is destroying all that is important to them.

Although this is the second book in this series, it stands alone. (I haven't read the first book).

When I was first offered the opportunity to read and review this book, I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it because it sounded somewhat out of  my typical genres. But, as y'all know I do like to challenge myself now and then and read something different for me. Which is what is so fun about reviewing books.

I looked up the book's website and found that I could download the first chapter. (If you are interested in reading the first chapter you can find it HERE.)

After having read about a boy and a girl, an ill queen, a king going mad, a nursemaid who can weave potions and magic, and a kingdom with an evil mystery, I decided I wanted the whole book.

This book did not let me down. Though, it took me quite awhile to read at 413 pages. Not that I can't pound through a large book fairly quickly, but because it required my full attention. It is a wonderful story that kept me on my toes, because I didn't know what Adin would find with his magical map and how his sister would fair in a separate time. That might be a spoiler alert, but it also might be exactly why you'll want to read this book.

There is magic, there is war, there is distrust and resentment, there is a powerful bond between the young prince and his sister, the princess. And who wouldn't love Winston. He's a hoot. 

This story is woven with light magic strewn across time. And, only the chosen one can use it to save the kingdom from the curse that was placed on it from its very beginnings.
