What's that smell??

WHAT'S THAT SMELL?

Hubby and I kept asking. We had this stealthy smell of death and decomposing going on in the garage. First it was weak but over night it grew into a fearsome odor.

Me "It's the trash."

Him "It's not the trash."

Me "Yeah, I think it is. There are fish remnants and raw chicken parts in the trash."

Him "It's something dead somewhere in the garage."

Me "Exactly. The trash."

Him: Loads trash up the next morning and hauls it off.

Me: Walks into garage and about passes out. "Oh, good." I say to myself as I recover. "He hauled off the stinky trash."

The next day, guess what. PEEEEewwwwwwww.

Me to myself, "He's right. Something died in here and it ain't little." Peering around looking behind and under stuff but finding no carcass to which I could haul out to the pasture. I'm thinking super sized rat? Maybe?

Another day or so goes by. Enter at yesterday evening. I'm at the barn, with book/s, kindle, newest edition of 'The Writer's Mag' fresh from my mailbox, iPhone and a glass of wine. (This is the way I typically travel ;-P )

I've been pondering experiments in which to give the 'Escape Artist a/k/a Crazy Loca a/k/a the Dullse' (our medium sized dog) the freedom she so longs for to roam the pasture and fields without worry of her crossing the road or not returning when called. This merits a whole other post. But for the moment, I discuss with Hubby and we decide to let her off her leash and act like it is no big deal.

She hangs around for a few and then discovers her freedom and takes off happily running, jumping and sniffing everything. I watch her roam across our five acres and off of them and then return and then back to Mom and Dad's (MIL/FIL) where she gets the dogs down there all in a bother...but she never crosses the road and she does eventually come back! Yay!

Ahem, no face licking...please.

Then she sniffs and runs around the house and into the garage and WHAT DOES SHE DISCOVER? The smell. Apparently, someone dang kids not paying attention when they close the freezer didn't close the freezer well or slammed it and in the process a one pound roll of hamburger meat fell out and rolled from sight.

Leave it to our Crazy Dulce (her full name is Cafe Dulce because she is the color of brown sugar, but she goes by Dullse for short) to find it, run with it and try to roll all over it. Ew. Must be a dog thing. Anyhow, at least we solved the case of "What is that awful smell???"

And the crazy pup, Dulce, will get another chance at freedom this evening. Need to find something? I'll send her over, though she's partial to the stinkier items, LOL!

That's what's happening in Farmer*sWife's world. What's happening in your's?

wow, I thought for sure it was the chicken crap. I hate that smell, especially because I usually cook it on sunday and our trash gets picked up on friday. errrrrr.

Good on your dog tho. I mean, not ON your dog, but, hell, you know what I'm saying.

I totally thought it was the chicken stuff too because that gets mighty nasty in a bag in a hot garage.

But today, our garage smells MUCH better AND Dullse/Dulce is enoying a nice roam around the place :-)

It was; all bloated up! She comes running out with it and tries to roll on it. Thank goodness she gave it up so I could toss it. :-X
